Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson admits twice turning down the England job.

Ferguson made the revelation during a media conference for the launch of his autobiography.

"It was impossible to accept such an offer," he recalled.

"The second time I was approached through (former United chairman) Martin Edwards. I then told him: 'Just forget it, I'm not interested'. I quickly made a decision, it took me 10 seconds.

"Just imagine how I would then return to Scotland? My God!"
