Mikael Silvestre has scored the only goal as Portland Timbers edged Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders 1-0 on matchday five of the Desert Friendlies competition.
The 35-year old former Manchester United, Arsenal and Werder Bremen defender is currently on trial with the Timbers and managed to fire home from close range after a series of saves and blocks from the Sounders defence just after the hour-mark in Tucson, Arizona.
Silvestre has been without a club since departing Bremen at the end of the 2011-12 Bundesliga season and is hoping to impress at Portland after an unsuccessful trial with West Ham United in September last year.
