Ex-Man City, Sunderland boss Reid to take reins at Plymouth Argyle

Former Manchester City, Sunderland, Leeds United and Coventry boss Peter Reid has left his post as Tony Pulis' assistant at Stoke City to take the reins at League One club Plymouth Argyle.

The 54-year old, who returned to England after a stint coaching the Thailand national team, was in his role at the Britannia Stadium for less than a year and has been given permission to leave to head to Home Park.

"I know Tony said to Peter when he came to Stoke that he wouldn't stand in his way if an offer likethis came along," said Stoke chairman Peter Coates.

"Peter has been a valuable member of Tony's management staff over the past season, but there was always the possibility a man with his experience and record would get an offer from somewhere.

"He has always expressed an interest to return to management if an appropriate opportunity arose, so he would definitely go there with our best wishes."
