Ex-Man City midfielder Brown: No reason to fear PSG and Messi

Former Manchester City midfielder Michael Brown insists tonight's Champions League result against PSG won't be decisive in the qualification battle.

Brown expects Lionel Messi to see action for PSG.

He told BBC Sport: "We were at the stadium yesterday, the pitch looked perfect. It is the setting for a wonderful game. (Mauricio) Pochettino declared Lionel Messi fit, so everybody is delighted.

"Pep (Guardiola) said that for the good of the game and everybody watching he should play, but I'm sure he's really thinking 'let's leave him where he is for another game'. The scene is set, he's not scored, and we've seen these top players do it time and time again. We want to see him on the pitch.

"Guardiola knows his team, he understands it, they played really well at Chelsea, out of possession with their pressing. I think Manchester City don't need to fear. The atmosphere is going to be great."

On reported issues between Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, Brown added: "Pochettino will always try and play it down, won't he? You've got so many top players at PSG, and it is the manager's challenge to get them playing together. He took Messi off and that was a huge talking point, but you have to rotate these players. These superstars demand to play week-in, week-out, and Man City can play on that. When it is not going so well, they can lose their discipline. City have to be smart."
