Ex-Man City keeper Kirkland: Leeds attack left me in tears

Former Manchester City goalkeeper Chris Kirkland believes it is time to do something about pitch invaders.

Recent incidents saw fans enter the football pitch during the game in both the Premier League and Championship.

There was an incident at Arsenal vs. Manchester United, along with Birmingham vs. Aston Villa.

And Kirkland, who has history with his own pitch invasion incident in 2012, believes it is time to take the matter seriously.

He said to Sky Sports: "I took my daughter to Liverpool and she got it up on her phone before I'd seen it.

"She went chalk white - she was shocked by what she was seeing.

"That is worse than the attack on me that is a proper punch. I don't know what Jack's going through. When it happened to me I was shocked. It wasn't until after the final whistle that it hit me."
