Ex-Man City chief Cook linked with Derby takeover

Former Manchester City chief exec Garry Cook is being linked with a move for Derby County.

BBC Sport reports Cook has been linked with bringing a consortium into the Championship club, although nothing materialised before Derby went into administration.

However, Cook, the former Manchester City chief executive, was at Pride Park on Tuesday for the draw with Luton and is known to have contact with interested parties.

Whether that materialises into anything tangible remains to be seen.

The club's administrators are still to outline the true debt position and whilst they have been talking to HMRC, who are owed just short of £30m and are a major creditor, nothing substantive has taken place yet to agree what would be an acceptable figure for Derby to reach in order to close that situation.
