Ex-Man City, Barcelona whiz Assulin cut loose by Serie D AC Crema

Former Manchester City and Brighton midfielder Gai Assulin is again a free agent.

The former Barcelona youth teamer has just left Serie D AC Crema of Italy.

He told the Guardian: "Football is something irreplaceable, it is what I love the most in life and I will always love it. Even though I don't have a team now, I try to play and train to do the best I can.

“You go into a moment where you can't find a club, it's football and it has happened to a lot of players, so you naturally have a lot of thoughts in your head and you think negative things: 'What should I do? Should I stop? ' But it is not an option for me, since football is everything."

Assulin was likened to Leo Messi while with Barcelona, “Everyone likes to compare in football and for me it is a great compliment, but Messi is the best footballer in history. Sometimes it is not good that you take it badly, since the expectation is that you go to the field and do the same as Messi all the time.

"In all the clubs they compared me to Messi, they thought I was going to be Messi and I would score 50 goals a year, so the comparison at that time was not so positive."
