Ex-Man City academy chief Cassell full of praise for Alaves striker Guidetti

Former Manchester City academy boss Jim Cassell has sung the praises of John Guidetti.

The Swede, now with Alaves, came through the youth system at City under Cassell.

"I loved him as a young guy. He was wonderful. As a striker, you will always be judged more harshly as well, whether you score or not. John has had a very good career so far - and I hope there will be more," Cassell told Sportbladet.

"Football is about opinions, maybe the coach did not think he was good enough. But I would advise all players, who are stuck in their careers for some reason, to go to a club that wants you, to play football every week. I was - and am - impressed by the guys who went out and made a career after Manchester City.

"We try the best we can to develop our players to have a career in the sport - and I think John has got it. He's still only 29, he should peak now."
