Ex-Liverpool midfielder Nikola Saric stands by rejecting Barcelona

Former Liverpool midfielder Nikola Saric has recalled turning down Barcelona as a teenager.

Sarkic was playing for HB Koge at the time.

He told Bold: "It sounds completely silly (rejecting Barca).

"After we got home from the Barcelona trip, we talked about that it could be that I was going to Spain. Then one was going to learn Spanish and all this, we talked about it. But I also felt that I was still too young to leave Herfølge (renamed HB Koge).

"I had not been there for quite a long time, so I still felt that I could develop quite a lot. I actually felt like my development really ran off when I came to Herfølge, but I felt like I had a lot more to learn and was not in a hurry yet.

"There were different packages. Either it had to be me and my dad who moved there, otherwise my mum and dad had to go, and alternatively I had to go to La Masia alone. There were different solutions and I also felt it was the bottom line to have to split my family because of it."
