Former Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has announced his retirement.

He confirmed his decision when appearing on the Footissime show on RMC Sport 1.

Sissoko, also once of Juventus, said: "If I am here this evening, it is to tell you that it is the end for me, I stop my career.

"It is a really complicated choice, difficult to accept.

"It is a really difficult decision to make, because I have always been involved in football, it is my life."
