Ex-Liverpool keeper Bouzanis joins Oldham

Dean Bouzanis has joined English League One club Oldham Athletic on loan.

The 21-year old former Liverpool goalkeeper has been out of contract since he departed Anfield in May and will spend the rest of the year with the Latics.

Oldham manager Paul Dickov brought Bouzanis in ahead of the weekend's scoreless draw at Bournemouth following an injury to back-up gloveman Paul Gerrard and he spent the game on the bench as fellow Australian Alex Cisak kept a clean sheet.

Dickov confirmed that Bouzanis, who was close to joining Melbourne Victory recently, would give the Boundary Park outfit plenty of cover until Gerrard is fit again.

"Dean is a talented boy and he has signed non-contract forms," Dickov told the club's official website.

"Paul Gerrard has come in and done ever so well, but he is struggling as he has pulled a muscle in his arm and Dean gives us cover."
