Ex-Liverpool chief Purslow takes charge of Aston Villa

Former Chelsea and Aston Villa powerbroker Christian Purslow has been named new CEO of Aston Villa.

He has also become a minority investor at Villa.

Villa today issued a statement announcing the appointment and confirming Purslow with take over the day-to-day running of the club. The 54-year-old was managing director of chief executive of Liverpool from 2009 to 2010 and managing director of Chelsea from 2014-2017.

Villa's new owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens said: “We are tremendously excited to bring someone of Christian's calibre and experience into the club."
