Former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is set to take charge of Uruguay's national team.
Uruguayan FA chief Jorge Casales admits a deal with Bielsa is just a step away.
The Argentine is set to sign a deal to 2026.
"The only thing missing is the signature," Casales said about negotiations which have taken place over the past three months.
"We are bringing in someone who we know will leave us a legacy that goes beyond the 90 minutes of a match."
