Ex-Juve chief Moggi: FIGC boss wanted to block Lippi, Buffon and Cannavaro from 2006 World Cup

Former Juventus director general Luciano Moggi has recalled how former FIGC boss Guido Rossi sought to block any Bianconeri identities from the 2006 World Cup.

Moggi says Rossi didn't want Marcello Lippi as Italy coach, nor Fabio Cannavaro and Gigi Buffon in the Azzurri coach amid the Calciopoli scandal.

He recalled to Rai 3: "Yes, before leaving for the World Cup.

"He didn't want Lippi, Cannavaro and Buffon at the World Cup. I did my part with these demoralised boys. I talked to them.

"Then they went to defend Italy in the best possible way, not taking into account those who didn't want them."
