Ex-Inter Milan president Moratti fears seeing Icardi join Juventus

Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti says they must think carefully before letting Mauro Icardi leave.

The striker is being linked with Juventus, with Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku and Roma's Edin Dzeko mentioned as potential replacements.

Moratti said, “Dzeko and Lukaku are very good strikers. One is very talented, the other very physical, but I still say Icardi is better than both of them.

“The Icardi issue is more complicated and delicate than anything I had to deal with during my time in charge. I am not interested in his social media behaviour, as I only judged players on their behaviour in training and on the pitch.

“If he should end up at Juventus, then the Bianconeri would become a super squad. Juve start out the season as Scudetto favourites, followed by Napoli and Inter, but the Nerazzurri have created an incredible defence: Samir Handanovic, Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij and Diego Godin represent excellence for the Champions League, too.

“(Diego) Godin is a leader and Inter now have the strongest defence in Serie A."
