Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has explained turning down the FIGC's top job.
Juve chief Andrea Agnelli nominated Moratti to become president of the Italian Football Federation, but opted out.
“It was a very nice idea from Agnelli, and a very courageous one too. It was something that could've seen some fans in disagreement, but instead I think it can cancel out, in a certain way, some of the anger after Calciopoli," Moratti told RMC Sport.
“The anger over the situation in itself remains, but there is no rancour.
“I didn't feel it right to become a candidate, pushing aside Gabriele Gravina who had worked so hard to earn his votes. My rapport with Agnelli has always been civil and affectionate, as I've known him since he was a kid. Continuing the controversy seemed rather boring."
