Released Hull City striker Dean Windass will be confirmed as No2 at Darlington today.
The former Hull City striker, who was released by Phil Brown at the end of the season, is due to meet new Quakers manager Colin Todd to agree terms to become his assistant.
The deal will be confirmed when Darlington's new owners take over next week.
Windass, 40, has turned down a similar role with Micky Adams at Port Vale.
