Ex-Hoffenheim winger Paljic: West Brom's Davidson spoke highly of A-League

Perth Glory's new recruit Dragan Paljic has revealed that a former teammate helped put his mind at ease about moving to Australia.

The German winger has signed a deal until the end of the 2014/15 season with the A-League leaders and says his decision was made easy by the fact that former Heracles Almelo colleague Jason Davidson told him positive things about football down under.

"I have heard many good things about Australian football, from my friend Jason Davidson and his father Alan who've only spoken positively about the league and the growth of the sport here," Paljic said of the West Bromwich Albion left-back.

"I have always looked at playing abroad and for me the A-League offers a tremendous opportunity and the challenge I thrive for.

"But most of all I am here to play football and help the club win its first championship. Perth is on a high and I want to help the team carry that momentum going forward and be part of history."

Previously in his career, Paljic has played with such clubs as 1860 Munich, Hoffenheim, FC Kaiserslautern, Wisla Krakow and Heracles.

The 31-year old will begin training on Tuesday afternoon as the Glory prepare to take on Melbourne Victory when the A-League returns on the weekend of January 24.
