AZ Alkmaar attacker Muamer Tankovic admits he was "shocked" after learning of Ray Wilkins' slating of Benfica defender Victor Lindelof.
Lindelof is joining Manchester United this week, though former United midfielder blasted the deal in a rant on TV.
Tankovic, who played for Wilkins at Fulham, declared: "I was shocked when I heard about it.
"I think everyone may have their opinions but he goes too far when he says he has not accomplished anything. Just watching what 'Vigge' has done. He has won the league and cup with Benfica and did well in the Champions League.
"He's a great football player. Even if Ray says otherwise ... I mean, everyone may think what they want, nobody can do anything about it."
On playing for Wilkins, Tankovic adds: "If I remember correctly, he was a good man. He was positive and liked to bet on young players so, of course, I'm shocked to hear this now."
