Gareth Southgate is being linked with the Crawley Town job.
The Sun says former England defender Southgate, 41, has just left his role as the FA's head of elite development.
The ex-Middlesbrough manager was born in Crawley.
And the Red Devils are targeting Southgate after Sean O'Driscoll left them to take charge of Championship club Nottingham Forest.
