Former Everton chief executive Robert Elstone has joined National League Stockport County.

Elstone has become the non-executive chairman of National League side Stockport County.

Having been the chief executive of the rugby Super League since leaving Everton up until earlier this year, the 57-year-old has now confirmed his new role with non-League Stockport.

Elstone told the club's official website: "This is an incredibly exciting time to join County.

"The club has so much potential, and I am certain, an exciting future ahead. I'm really looking to being part of that and look forward to working with the fans and the community to help make this a reality."
