Former Derby County and Rangers winger Ted McMinn says the recent signing of two promising Scottish footballers has him excited about the season ahead for the Rams.
The Pride Park club have secured the services of Chris Maguire from Aberdeen and Craig Bryson from Kilmarnock and McMinn feels that it can be either of these two who can fill the void left by Kris Commons who has become an overnight sensation at Celtic.
"It's a great move for the players. They'll both be playing in front of at least 20,000 every week. It's a big step up," he said.
"A lot of players have come down here and done the business so there's no reason why they can't.
"I think the fans are still looking for someone to replace Kris Commons. He was a fantastic player for Derby and we've missed him.
"He was top scorer when he left here and he remained top goal-scorer. Now the club are maybe hunting for that bargain, a gem who could end up replacing Kris.
"People have to forget him, he's gone now. If these lads can help the fans do that, they'll be just fine."
