Ex-Dallas winger Shea elated after Stoke debut

Brek Shea was over the moon after making his Premier League debut with Stoke City on the weekend.

The American winger joined the Potters from FC Dallas last month and was thrilled to get some game time after replacing the injured Matthew Etherington in the 24thminute in the 1-0 defeat at Fulham.

"It's been a long time out and I'm glad to be back," Shea, who returned from a foot injury, told reporters. "It wasn't the way I wanted to play, or the team, but hopefully we can get better.

"I let the guy get the ball in for the cross, so I should have stopped him on their goal. But I created a penalty and was lucky... I just have to keep chugging I guess."

Dimitar Berbatov scored the only goal of the game with a sumptuous volley before half-time prior to Mark Schwarzer keeping out Jon Walters who took the penalty won by Shea.
