Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan believes Manchester United blundered paying over the odds for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
United parted with £55million to land Wan-Bissaka from the Eagles, making him the world's most expensive full-back.
Jordan told talkSPORT: "I think Man United realise there's a possibility they've had their pants pulled down over Wan-Bissaka and they don't want it to keep going on. They've got to draw the line.
"My experience with ultimatums is they very rarely work in your favour, but also it's a clear line that gets drawn for the player to understand – 'we are going to go away now'.
"The player will be part of the equation. This player, if he understands they've met a significant fee and it's in and around what Leicester have indicated, the player can then turn around to the club and say: 'hold on here, they've done what you want them to do, I've loved my time here but I'd like to go to Manchester United'.
"So it's a call to action on all fronts, given the fact the window closes four or five days after that and Man United will still have to do some business.
"I think it's right they are doing this. They are Manchester United and they should operate like Manchester United. Whether Harry Maguire is worth £80million, well that's an entirely different debate."
