Ex-Crystal Palace chairman Jordan: Everton need to stick with Silva

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan says Everton need to stick with manager Marco Silva.

Silva eased pressure on his job with victory over Huddersfield on Tuesday.

Jordan told talkSPORT: “What I didn't like about Marco Silva was certain managers that go into a job stay there for five minutes and then bat their eyes at what they think is a bigger job, which is what he did at Watford - and Gary Rowett did at Birmingham, Derby and Stoke. And they reap their rewards for that because Rowett got sacked and Silva's under a bit of pressure.

“But the inside track on this guy, from what I gather from people like Strachan, is this is a really good manager. Everton are a club that I believe are going to go forward under Moshiri. I know Bill Kenwright likes him and I believe this guy will probably need two, maybe three transfer windows to be able to get the footprint on Everton that represents him.

“I'm not a fan of his character, but I'm not a fan of a lot football people's characters because I think they lack integrity and authenticity and it's like being King Cnut asking the sea to go back to ask some of these people to have integrity. But that doesn't alter the fact that I think if he's given the time, which I suspect he will be, that Everton will get there."
