Ex-Chelsea winger de Bruyne backs Belgium commitment from Man Utd's Januzaj

VfL Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Kevin de Bruyne believes Adnan Januzaj's allegiance to Belgium is a massive bonus for the national team.

The 19-year old Manchester United young gun has decided to commit himself to the country of his birth for his international career despite being eligible for England, Albania and Kosovo.

Januzaj was in limbo late last year regarding who he wanted to play for but has now pledged his allegiance to the Red Devils which has been met with admiration by former Chelsea winger de Bruyne.

When asked by nieuwsblad.be if Januzaj's joining would provide more competition, de Bruyne gave a pragmatic response.

"Yes, but competition is now already," said the Wolfsburg midfielder who already competes with the likes of Eden Hazard, Nacer Chadli and Dries Mertens for a position in Marc Wilmots' line-up.

"It is especially good for the future of the national team that such a great talent for choosing us.

"I do not see why he could not go to the World Cup. If you play at Man United, you can play football, huh. But it's up to the coach now. For him it is not easy to fit (all the players)."

Having Januzaj to choose from will make Wilmots' task of settling on his final 23-man squad even more difficult as Belgium continue to prepare for the 2014 World Cup.

The Rode Duivels take on Algeria, Russia and South Korea in Group H in Brazil.
