Ex-Chelsea, Tottenham boss Villas-Boas guides Zenit to Russian title

Zenit Saint Petersburg have been crowned Russian Premier League winners for 2014/15.

Andre Villas-Boas has guided the club to their fourth RPL win since the competition's inception in 2001 and fifth Russian first division title in history.

Sunday's 1-1 draw with FC Ufa enabled Zenit to cinch the premiership with two games to spare as they hold an eight-point lead over CSKA Moscow.

Former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Villas-Boas, who secured his first piece of silverware since leaving FC Porto in 2011, was delighted to help the club achieve success in what he believes could be the start of a successful era for Zenit.

"Zenit still have room to improve and become stronger. There will be changes and by this, I mean within the squad," he said.

"We need to try and grow in order to win and improve in European competitions. To achieve this, there will be some changes and there will be investment."
