Ex-Chelsea striker Cascarino backing bid for Stoke veteran Crouch

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino supports their move for Stoke City veteran Peter Crouch.

Cascarino sees the logic behind the seemingly random transfer approaches.

Burnley's Ashley Barnes is the latest name in the frame to be a new Chelsea striker after Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch and Edin Dzeko," he wrote in The Times.

“Where is it going to stop?

“It all looks a bit desperate but Antonio Conte wants something different, a target man.

“Particularly for the Champions League matches against Barcelona — and another option to make sure of a top-four place.

“I don't blame him for looking short term, not enough managers in the top flight do that.

“If you can get a different option in for five months who could win you a couple of games, then why not?"
