Ex-Chelsea scout Boga: Mum stopped second Mbappe trial

Former Chelsea scout Daniel Boga has revealed how they missed out on PSG superkid Kylian Mbappe.

Boga managed to organise trials for Mbappe at Chelsea when he was with AC Bondy.

He recalled to Goal: "I told Chelsea about him afterwards, and everyone I worked with at Chelsea, including Jim Fraser (head of youth training), had me on the phone, and I brought him to England with his family. He participated in a youth match against Charlton Athletic, who won 7-0.

"Chelsea wanted to offer him a new trial period later to see if he could improve in that area (defensively), they should have captured him right away, but its easy to talk afterwards, at which time Chelsea had a good squad.

"I remember exactly what his mother said to Fraser, 'Listen, my boy is not going to come back, if they want him they have to take him now, otherwise they will return in five years and have to pay fifty million euros for him'.

"That's what she said to me! I said, 'No, I can not translate that, it's too arrogant'. But she was right, in the end they have not paid 50 million, but 180 million euros for him, she knew the qualities of her son and she was right."
