Ex-Chelsea, Real Madrid no.2 Clement eyes immediate promotion with Derby

Derby County manager Paul Clement is looking for automatic promotion in his first year of his charge of the Championship club.

The Rams lost to QPR in play-off final last year and failed to finish in the top six this season after a flying start to the campaign under Steve McClaren.

"Straight away our aim is the top two, automatic promotion, and there's no reason why that can't be achieved," said Clement after he was confirmed as Derby's new boss on Monday.

"Along the way we will need a bit of luck, of course, because it can be difficult with injuries.

"But with the addition of a couple of extra players I believe we can be fighting for the automatic places."

Clement has previously worked with Carlo Ancelotti at clubs like Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
