Ex-Chelsea coach Wilkins: Abraham better than Batshuayi

Former Chelsea coach Ray Wilkins says Tammy Abraham should be ahead of Michy Batshuayi in the striker's pecking order.

Batshuayi, 22, has failed to live up to his price tag and make an impact at Chelsea under Antonio Conte this season.

While Abraham, 19, has enjoyed a fruitful season out on loan at Championship side Bristol City - scoring 18 goals in 31 appearances.

"I look at Chelsea, my club, they spent £33m on Michy Batshuayi at 22 years of age and I look at Tammy Abraham, who is playing for Bristol City. They are third from bottom in the Championship and he has scored 20 goals this season," Wilkins told talkSPORT.

"You are not going to tell me Batshuayi would have scored 20 goals in the Championship. Chelsea would have been better off sticking Abraham on the bench and playing him ahead of Batshuayi."
