Ex-Chelsea captain Wise: Sarri must stay

Former Chelsea captain Dennis Wise says they must stand by manager Maurizio Sarri.

While Chelsea fans remain unconvinced by Sarri-ball, club legend Wise sees no logic in cutting short his project before he has had a real chance to implement his style.

The former Blues skipper told The Sun: “I really don't think getting rid of him after just seven months would be the right thing to do.

“He has to be allowed a period of time. They have a chance on making the top four and are in the last-16 of the Europa League and final of the Carabao Cup.

“Look at Unai Emery at Arsenal. He's been there the same amount of time as Sarri but he's the one under pressure despite being on the same points as them.

“He hasn't been given enough time and I think the club understand that. The stubbornness Sarri has shown got him the job but it could also get him out of the job.

“But you won't see Pep changing and it took him time when he first arrived. And Sarri has a better win rate in all competitions compared to him."
