Ex-Chelsea captain Wise confirms making Terry sell back flash motor

Former Chelsea captain Dennis Wise has explained why he demanded a young John Terry sell back the flash car he had bought as a young player.

Now Aston Villa assistant manager, Terry recalled the story earlier this year.

And Wise added extra context, telling The Sun: "I'll tell you what happened, I worked extremely hard to get a bonus for the lads after we got to the Champions League.

"What happened was John and Jody (Morris) and John Harley worked really hard, they were part of the squad, so they deserved to get a nice bonus.

"I made sure that they did and then he walks in with a flash car - I wasn't too happy.

"I told him in certain ways this is not about that, you need to be sensible with the money you've just got and not waste it on a car.

"He chose to make the right decision..."

Wise added: "I wouldn't say I had him round the neck.

"I just had my hand around his shoulders and walked him away and said this is not correct, don't do that.

"I was only trying to help the young boys out and point them in the right direction.

"He took it well I've got to say, he did the correct thing.

"Not that he was forced or anything…"
