Ex-Chelsea captain Terry takes new step in management career plans

Former Chelsea captain John Terry is reassessing his post- playing career.

The former defender appeared set to go into coaching after he announced his retirement in 2018.

The Times says Terry has signed up for a FIFA diploma for club executives.

The course is 12 months long and includes modules on things like leadership and sporting strategy.

Terry joins the second edition of Fifa's diploma in club management and he could be taking classes alongside the likes of World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro and ex-Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos, who have also signed up.

Terry spent three years at Aston Villa as assistant coach under Dean Smith before leaving in 2021.

Most recently he has been back at Chelsea to take up a part-time consultancy role in the academy.

As a player Terry spent 22 years at Chelsea and won 17 trophies in that time.
