Ex-Bournemouth striker Kermorgant brands Charlton owner Duchatelet 'deluded'

Reading striker Yann Kermorgant has branded Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet as "deluded".

The fans' favourite played 96 games in three years for the Addicks then moved to Bournemouth in 2014 after being turned off signing a new deal by Duchatelet.

Kermorgant, 34, who joined Reading last month after helping the Cherries into the Premier League, said: “I'm gutted. I think they have wasted the club.

“When I was there I didn't really want to leave. At first I wanted to sign a new deal and spend a longer time with the club. But in my first meeting with the new owners I found out things were really different – they had a vision which for me was completely deluded.

“They didn't know too much about football.

“I felt like they were wrong and the club would be in trouble because that's not how football works.

“It's different to run a business and a football club. It looked to me like their position was a bit weird.

“And I can now see two years after where they are and I think it was the right decision to leave. I can't see them now not being relegated at the end of the season.

“When we won League One we had the stadium sold out three or four times. There was 27,000 there in League One.

“The club and the fans are great. It's a nice family club so to see what they have done is very annoying."
