Ex-Bournemouth midfielder Wilshere backing Howe for Newcastle job

Jack Wilshere says he would love to play under Eddie Howe if he takes over the vacant Newcastle United job.

Howe is one of several names being linked with the Magpies, who parted ways with Steve Bruce this week.

Wilshere, who is currently a free agent, played under Howe at Bournemouth and would welcome linking up with him again.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Wilshere said of joining Toon with Howe at the helm: “I would love to. I'm not sure if he would take me though.

“I worked with him before and I still speak with him so I could ask the question.

“I think he'd be great with the players Newcastle have got. With the transition they're in, he could take them to the next level."
