Ex-Bournemouth chief Fletcher: I never saw Leyton Orient sack coming

Carl Fletcher has spoken of his sacking by Leyton Orient.

The 39-year-old left his role as loan manager at Bournemouth to take up the managerial post with the League Two outfit back in October.

But he was sacked after just five games in charge and told talkSPORT: “I know the average (time period) for a lower league manager is about eight months, which is a short period anyway, but for it to end so quickly after such a long interview process was a big shock and really disappointing.

“It was tough. It was something I didn't see coming and it was tough to deal with. The next few weeks after were really difficult because so many things go through your head and you look for answers and sometimes there aren't any because there's just not an opportunity to do certain things.

“I was very lucky that I had my family and some really good friends around me to get through that really difficult period."
