Ex-Bolton midfielder Muamba thanks Tottenham fans

Fabrice Muamba has thanked the Tottenham supporters who made his return to the club so easy.

The former Bolton midfielder, who had to prematurely call time on his career after suffering a heart attack at White Hart Lane last season, was back at the North London venue to watch Spurs beat NK Maribor in the Europa League on Thursday and was given a rousing reception from the home supporters.

Muamba posted on Twitter: "Amazing day at WHL tonight. Thank you guys for everythings spurs fans tonight were awesome. Thank you."

And Spurs defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto tweeted that he was delighted to see Muamba in good health months after his horror collapse.

"@fmuamba good to see you tonight my Man. So happy to see you à Life and happy ! Good bless u fab enjoye ur Life ...peace," he wrote.
