Ex-Blackburn, West Ham defender Neill wants A-League return

Lucas Neill has revealed that he has unfinished business in the A-League.

The Australian national team captain recently joined J.League outfit Omiya Ardija as he looks to get himself regular playing time ahead of next year's World Cup but hinted at a return to his homeland following a very short spell with Sydney FC last season.

"I feel like I have unfinished business there," he told AAP.

"It was definitely anti-climactic when I went there. Getting injured in the first game with only eight or nine games to go (in the regular season) made it impossible.

"I was trying so hard to make an impression but sometimes when you try too hard it all goes wrong and that's exactly what happened.

"But I'm sure if I had another chance it would be a very different outcome."

The former Millwall, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United defender added: "But I'm just happy the A-League is going so well and of course if, for some reason, the opportunity was there to go back I'd seriously consider it."
