Ex-Bayern Munich, Man Utd midfielder Schweinsteiger grateful to early Chicago Fire support

Bastian Schweinsteiger took the time to thank the Chicago Fire fans for the support they have already shown.

The German midfielder officially completed his transfer from Manchester United to the MLS club on Wednesday after passing a medical an receiving this visa.

The 32-year-old also trained with his new teammates for the first team and admits it has been a fantastic welcome from all areas of his new club.

"I want to thank the fans for the welcome you showed my family and me at the airport and for coming out today, it means so much to me," he said at his press conference unveiling.

"Every player on the pitch must take responsibility, but I've been in Champions League and World Cup finals so I am OK with pressure.

"This morning was a very great session with the team, good qualities and energy and I'm already looking forward to tomorrow."

The World Cup winner and former Bayern Munich star is in line to make his MLS debut when the Fire host Montreal Impact at Toyota Park on the weekend.
