Ex-Barcelona presidential candidate Farre: Bartomeu should've gone with Neymar

Former Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Farre has called on Josep Maria Bartomeu to resign over Lionel Messi's transfer demand.

The lifelong Barcelona fan has presented a motion of no confidence in the man who beat him in those elections.

"I take advantage of being here to request the resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu," he told Radio MARCA on Wednesday.

"He should have resigned with the 'Neymar Case' but now the situation is unsustainable, he has to step aside and let those with desire step up."

The final straw for Farre was the news that Lionel Messi wants to leave the club.

"Messi doesn't want to leave Barcelona, we're sure of that, but they are making it difficult for him," he insisted.

"Messi feels at home here, but he doesn't want to work with this board.

"We have to create an ecosystem for Messi to stay in Barcelona and for that Bartomeu has to resign.

"When Messi says goodbye, it has to be with the biggest statue at the Camp Nou."
