Gaspart is adamant that the former president has done nothing wrong.
He even compared this situation to the case of another former president Sandro Rosell, who was later acquitted.
"I'm sure Bartomeu isn't concerned by this because he hasn't done anything wrong," Gaspart explained in an interview with Radio MARCA.
"When you have a clear conscience, you can listen to what the police ask you, tell the truth and hope you get to go home.
"I'm convinced, as his friend, that he has done nothing wrong."
When pressed on the details of the Barcagate scandal itself, Gaspart refused to be drawn into discussion about it, instead preferring to plead a lack of knowledge of the issue.
"I'm not concerned or interested in these subjects, that is why I haven't expanded my knowledge of it," he added.
"I know the same as you do, I read about it and hope it gets cleared up.
"I don't call people to ask what happened, it's not my style. I just hope everything clears up as soon as possible, nothing more."
