Former Barcelona and Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes has removed himself from social media.

Valdes retired at the start of the season after leaving Middlesbrough.

He has now shut down all his social media accounts, hanging an image of a road with the slogan 'Thank you for everything', in which he hinted that he would disappear from public life.

Since then, his Instagram account has deleted all of its content, while his official Twitter account has been deleted.

Valdes is now expected to focus on his family and personal business projects.
