Former Barcelona director presidential candidate Toni Freixa has had to clarify a social media post hinting Pep Guardiola should be sacked by Manchester City.
Freixa used social media to offer his thoughts after watching City lose 3-2 to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday night.
That result saw City fall 14 points behind Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table, following the Reds' emphatic 4-0 win against Leicester a day before. It is worth remembering that Liverpool have a game in hand, too.
"If Barcelona were 14 points behind the leader with one more game at the end of the first half [of the season]... bufff, I'd prefer not to say it," Freixa posted on Twitter.
Lots of people replied to the tweet, with the assumption being that Freixa was criticising City boss Guardiola, but he offered a response to those messages on Saturday morning with a new tweet.
But he later responded:
"Given the flood of comments, I'll clarify: The tweet is a reflection on the criticism that Barcelona have received from certain sectors, [which] in my opinion is disproportionate..
"For the susceptible ones, I say to you that I admire Pep and, as I've always said, for me he is the best coach in the world."
