Ex-Aston Villa star in shock as grandfather shoots father dead

Former Aston Villa star Savo Milosevic is in shock after his grandfather shot his father dead during an argument.

The incident took place at the Milosevic family home in Glavicice in Bosnia.

Reports in Bosnia say Milosevic's grandfather, an 83-year-old also named Savo, shot 58-year-old Stevo Milosevic in the chest with a M-48 rifle.

The argument was believed to be over unresolved property issues.

Milosevic released a statement to Serbian newspaper Tanjug where he asked for privacy

"We ask the media to spare the family and give us time to cope with the tragedy so we can pull ourselves together," he said in the statement.

Milosevic, 37, played 117 games for Villa between 1995 and 1998 and scored 34 goals including one in the 1996 League Cup final when Villa beat Leeds 3-0.
