Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has welcomed the appointment of Unai Emery.

Schmeichel felt Emery was treated unfairly at the end of his former Premier League job with Arsenal.

The Dane said, "When you come up with new ideas, in this country we are not very patient, we want immediate results.

“There are many clubs in the Premier League who think they are above what they are.

"I think Arsenal had that idea of what they were at that time and they didn't give it time, don't forget that he took them to the Europa League final."
