Former Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar has no regrets missing out on moves to Tottenham and Ajax.
Both giants came in for Vlaar in 2014, but Villa refused to do business,
The Dutchman announced his retirement last week and he said: “I am proud that I have played for AZ, Feyenoord and Aston Villa for a long time, so that I have been able to build something great there.
"And no, I do not regret that transfers to Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur were canceled.
“My time at Feyenoord has shaped me, partly because of my injuries, and made me who I am. I am grateful for that. The club has supported me during the time when I was struggling, even extending my contract during rehabilitation. "
