Former Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard could be heading to Wigan Athletic.

Gerrard lost his job at Villa recently with the team near the relegation zone, and was replaced by Unai Emery.

Villa have since been on an impressive run of results, with Gerrard already looking for his next job.

Per Sky Bet, Gerrard is a 16/1 contender to take the Wigan job, after Leam Richardson was sacked by the club.

Wigan are on an eight-game losing streak, which prompted them to make a change.

Meanwhile, Gerrard's assistant at Villa, Neil Critchley, is 6/1 for the Wigan job as well.
