Former Arsenal prospect Marcus McGuane made his Barcelona debut on Wednesday night.

Barcelona beat Espanyol 4-2 on penalties to win the Catalan Super Cup as they did in 2014, after stars including Ousmane Dembele and Paco Alcacer failed to shine in a goaless draw.

English midfielder McGuane came on in the 76th minute as Barcelona were looking for the breakthrough.

McGuane played four games for Barcelona B before this, but this was his first appearance for the first team, albeit in what was little more than a glorified friendly.

He didn't have much to do here in his brief appearance but made no mistakes with his passing and looked comfortable on the ball.
