Former Arsenal major shareholder Alisher Usmanov has ruled out plans to buy Charlton Athletic.

The Uzbek billionaire has been linked with the cash-strapped Addicks.

Usmanov's press office issued an official comment yesterday which categorically read “Alisher Usmanov is not buying Charlton Athletic football club."

The long-time financial associate of Blues major shareholder Farhad Moshiri has been linked with a switch to Goodison Park after cashing in his stake at Arsenal to American Stan Kroenke for £600million.
